I'd like to apply for Bbz benefit
Are you self-employed or a freelancer and do you (temporarily) have little income? In many cases you can apply for Bbz benefit. Bbz stands for ‘Besluit bijstandsverlening zelfstandigen’ (Decree on assistance for the self-employed ). Below you can read more about this benefit and whether you are eligible for it.
When are you self-employed according to the Bbz?
According to the Bbz, you are self-employed (or freelance) if:
- You are between the age of 18 and retirement.
- You earn an income from your business or profession.
- You carry out your business or profession in the Netherlands and meet the legal requirements to do so.
- You meet the hour criteria of the Belastingdienst (Tax Authorities ).
- Either you alone, or you and your business partner together, have full financial control and bear the financial risks thereof.
- Your business or profession is viable. Viable means that your business or profession should be able to provide you with sufficient income.
How do you apply for Bbz benefit?
To apply for Bbz benefit, you can contact your client manager. If you don't have a personal client manager yet, you can contact the Regionale Organisatie Zelfstandigen (regional organisation for the self-employed). They carry out the Bbz on behalf of Fijnder.
- You can use Bbz benefit for:
- The cost of living, such as food and drinks and clothing.
- The preparation costs for the start of your business or profession.
- Business investment.
In most cases, you will receive this benefit in the form of a loan.
